What I see in my mind’s eye during meditation, finds its way onto a canvas. The images that run unfettered
struggle to descend onto the aspiring canvas before my eyes. The artist in me struggles with the challenge of
reigning transient thoughts and capturing them through stringent strokes that caress the canvas. Slowly, they
crystallise… intense concentration meets diligence, demanding nothing less than purposeful dexterity as I carve
texture onto the canvas with a blade… Long hours turn into weeks and months. until my ‘dharana’ finally traps the
image and captures it on canvas, taking my breath away.
I gaze at this artistic entity that weaves together the magic of colour and mindful consciousness. A silent smile of
satisfaction breaks across my face as the shades of samadhi slowly descend onto pristine canvas – transformed into a
proud proclamation of fine observation, deep concentration and mindful meditation.
Known for his distinctive abstract renditions, Hanumanth primarily works with oil and acrylic mediums.
His work explores Indic themes of a meditative nature. They are an interpretation of the experiences of
his quiet journeys into deep musings towards the world of ecstasy and elation unravelled during his
meditations. It is a result of stabilizing those layers of constantly moving imageries which reside in the far
reaches of mind onto the canvas. The process he adopts is intense: and the execution, intricate. With
layers of colours and lacerations, he paints an image that is not just pleasing, but also calming to the
mind, transporting the viewer in to a blissful state.
